Kirsty Gogan (MSc, FRSA)
Kirsty Gogan is the Founder of CleanTech Catalyst Ltd. and an internationally sought-after advisor to governments, industry, academic networks and non-profit organisations.
Kirsty is also Co-Founder and Executive Director of Energy for Humanity (EFH), an NGO working to meet the goal of universal access to clean and cheap energy to meet the challenge of tackling climate change within urgent timescales; whilst enabling billions of people to achieve modern standards of living. EFH was shortlisted for the Business Green Leaders “Green NGO of the Year” Award in 2016.
Previously, Kirsty has held positions including Director of Communication for the Nuclear Industry Association, Deputy Head of Strategy and Deputy Head of Civil Nuclear Security in the Department for Energy and Climate Change as well as Senior Press Officer for the Deputy Prime Minister and in No.10 Downing Street.
Leading the Government’s public consultation into the UK’s nuclear new build program Kirsty addressed public concerns about nuclear power and engaged antinuclear campaigners in a constructive dialogue process with Government that continues to this day.
As Deputy Head of Civil Nuclear Security, Kirsty reviewed the UK national communications response to Fukushima, made a number of recommendations, and implemented them. She subsequently provided editorial oversight for the revision of the Civil Nuclear Emergency Planning and Response Guidance. Kirsty created the first UK chapter of the global Women in Nuclear network, is a visiting researcher at Manchester University, and an independent advisor to Government.
